Sounds like a good idea, as you can get the more mileage out of a blog that a website, without all the hassle associated with a getting a website hosted, creating author’s contributions pages etc. I think its a great idea, hope to have a look in at the blog soon.

wow. lol teaching with blogging? I would find a teaching through chatting more useful. Yes, yes, you can put a few points and lessons on a blog, but the human mind is inquisitive. If and when a person does not understand a subject o sub-topic of that blog, where will that person go to to ask? By comments? Then the session would be “cut” because the other party isn’t necessarily online when people read the articles. Indeed, chatting is much more efficient (for me, anyway).

Hi Chris,

I think second life is a fascinating application though I admit I’ve never used it. Its uses are endless and I think it will be more heavily used in future in many aspects of society. A lot of people at my work are into it so I keep thinking I ought to try it.

Some Japanese friends told me recently that there is now a Japanese version of Second LIfe. It will be interesting to see how popular it becomes as role playing games are very popular in Japan.

As an academic I seriously don’t expect any royalty payments for my publications. The first reward is the recognition from the review board who accept it for publication. The second is that your publication list is one way of demonstrating that you’re research active and this keeps the uni happy. The bonus thrill is when other authors start citing your ideas in their own work and if having my papers freely available increases this then I’d be happy about that.

Good review Chris, I like the ’seamless promotion’ comment – very cheeky I also can’t believe that authors don’t want paying for their articles – seems like an odd argument to me….
